Australian rally fans will get their first look at the Subaru WRX Challenge vehicle in action, with the newly built car to undergo an important test with Scott Pedder behind the wheel.
As part of the Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship’s (ARC) penultimate round at the PowerPlay Adelaide Hills Rally, the 2014 Champion, Pedder, will be joined by accomplished co-driver Glenn Macneall in the new car which will also act as the ‘zero-a’ (0A) car as part of the event.
That will see Pedder and Macneall tackle the stages as the first car at close to racing speed – also providing an important safety role in declaring the stages ready for the competitors to follow in full competition speed soon after.
While performing that important safety role, the event will also allow Subaru and Maximum Motorsport the opportunity to undertake vital research and development as they prepare for the car’s debut in 2024.
Earlier this year, an expression-of-interest was opened for competitors wishing to be part of the proposed one-make series in new Subaru WRX vehicles. There was strong interest from across the Australian rally community, with the cars expected to debut in mid-2024 as part of the ARC.
