Victorian Glen Raymond took out the ARC2 class in heat one yesterday, getting the better of WA locals Brad Markovic and Ross Dunkerton.
Raymond finished heat one in third outright, the result justifying his move to borrow the Sky Refrigeration Subaru WRX STI and nominate WA’s Forest Rally as his second and final ARC2 round for the year.
Markovic and Dunkerton, both running Maximum Motorsport Subaru WRX STIs, finished heat one in fifth and eighth respectively on the slippery WA roads.
Haowen Chu, a newcomer to the sport of rallying, had a steady day to bring his Ford Fiesta home inside the top ten.
Raymond again got the jump on the competition at last night’s 5.2 kilometre blast around the Trade Hire Busselton Super Special Stage, pipping Markovic by just 1.6 seconds for the fastest ARC2 time.
The ARC2 battle will continue with heat two’s eight stages around Nannup today.
