The 2020 Kosciuszko Automotive Monaro Stages Rally has been cancelled after heavy rainfall in the Bombala region made the roads unsuitable for competition.
Hosted by the Canberra Light Car Club, the event would have seen crews drive on 12 stages in and around the Bondi Forests on Saturday.
As a result of the heavy rainfall over the past week, the club indicated on Wednesday via social media channels the potential for cancellation as they were waiting on the green light from the NSW forestry commission.
However after reevaluating the circumstances, the forestry commission rescinded the permit on the basis of further rainfall occurring on Friday and an estimated 40mm of rain on Saturday, making it nearly impossible for the event to run.
With the Netier National Capital Rally to occur next month, the club has decided not to hold the event in any capacity in 2020 and will look towards next year.
The 2021 Kosciuszko Automotive Monaro Stages Rally will now take place on 23 October, 2021.
