Moscatt does well in first WRC outing for 2023

Dale Moscatt’s official return to the WRC has been completed after the Aussie called the notes for Raken Al-Rashed at Rally Sweden over the weekend.

With the duo running a WRC2 campaign together in 2023, their first round as partners started off well having finished 34th overall after 18 completed stages.

Their strongest day for the event was on Friday as they picked up their three best stage results during the middle part of the day.

An event-high P20 on the event’s fifth stage saw them climb to P28 on the standings and began a solid run of stage results as they finished up 24th on SS6 and 25th on SS7 to move up a place on the overall standings.

Unfortunately, an issue on the final stage of Friday saw the duo undo all the good work – as they placed 45th on the stage that resulted in them dropping to 43rd overall.

A consistent day on Saturday with plenty of mid-20s and high 30s placing, including a day-high 25th on the penultimate stage saw them finish the day back up the rankings and into P38.

Al-Rashed’s inexperience at the top level was highlighted on the final day as two placings in the 40s either side of a 29th was a challenging end the weekend.

Despite the tough run, the duo still climbed some positions throughout the day to finish 34th overall.
