Mee ready for 2020 ARC attack

With less than a month to go until the Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (ARC) hits Canberra for the 2020 season opener, Stephen Mee has already begun counting down the days.

The South Australian was one of 10 crews to take part of the Championship’s pre-season test in Bendigo earlier this month, where he was able to dust off the cobwebs from his Toyota Corolla and take it for its first spin since the Adelaide Hills Rally.

On top of getting to test the new Hoosier tyres, it was a productive day for the 2017 ARC 2WD winner who looks likely to compete at more events in 2020.

“It (pre-season test) was good. It was a long time coming. It was good to come here and have a test on the new tyres,” Mee said.

“We are aiming to ado a number of ARC events this year including Canberra, Victoria and South Australia. We are also a possibility to do Tasmania but that will be dependent on sponsorships.”

As for the Netier National Capital Rally itself, Mee admits he has low expectations due to his history with the event.

“Canberra is always tough so I would like get to the finish line,” Mee added.

“Doesn’t matter where you come from or what event it is, it’s always tough – so we just want to get to the end.”

Entries for March’s Netier National Capital remain open until early next month with interested crews able to do so here.
