Finding the next Rally Star in Canberra

Motorsport Australia will launch the Australian edition of the FIA Rally Star program at this month’s Netier National Capital Rally in Canberra, with a potential Junior WRC drive up for grabs.

Taking place at the opening round of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship, the future stars of rally will be given an opportunity to showcase their skills at the Service Park, opposite the Abode Woden Hotel on Saturday, 10 April.

The simulator challenge will allow competitors aged between 17 and 26-years-old to take on the FIA Rally Star challenge on the WRC9 video game in a Motorsport Australia simulator, with the goal of qualifying for the next round of the program.

Each driver has 15 minutes to complete a maximum of three runs of the digital special stage on the simulator, with their best run recorded.

Ultimately, the fastest driver in Australia will go on to represent their country at the Asian Pacific qualifiers, with the top FIA Rally Star prize a fully funded drive in the Junior FIA World Rally Championship.

Future selections will be held at rally events around the country, with competitors also eligible to enter remotely – more details will follow in the coming weeks about how to show off your talents.

No pre-registration is required for the Canberra opportunity, with competitors welcome to attend the Service Park on the Saturday of the rally.

The RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship’s FIA Rally Star event takes place on Saturday, 10 April only at the Service Park at 1 Matilda St, Phillip, Canberra from 9am to 3pm.

More details about local FIA Rally Star opportunities will be available on rally.com.au and motorsport.org.au in the coming weeks and months.
