2018 CAMS Australian Rally Champion Co-Driver Ben Searcy will this year swap pacenotes for a steering wheel, as the West Australia competes in selected rallies across the country.
Searcy made his first appearance as a driver aboard a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 at the most recent Make Smoking History Forest Rally, also this year’s CAMS Australian Rally Championship opener. The West Australian finished a respectable fifth out of 23 CAMS West Australian Rally Championship starters, despite electrical gremlins striking the Evo early in the event.
Though Searcy quashed any thought of his 2018 driving co-champion Eli Evans swapping the drivers seat for the navigator’s.
“Wouldn’t that be a laugh? I don’t know how he’d cope with that,” Searcy said.
