The 2018 Australian Rally Championship (ARC) is taking shape with the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) today confirming dates for four events, with the full calendar to be revealed at Kennards Hire Rally Australia.
New to the ARC calendar last year, the Eureka Rally is back as the opening round of the championship in Ballarat, Victoria, on 3-4 March while Western Australia’s Forest Rally retains its traditional timing, and will see Australia’s best rally teams make the trip to the west on 27-29 April.
Australia will again host a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) on 1-3 June. Also a round of the ARC, the location of the event will be confirmed once details between CAMS and the event promoter are finalised.
This news joins the recent confirmation from the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) that Kennards Hire Rally Australia remains as the final round of the World Rally Championship, and ARC, on 15-18 November.
CAMS General Manager of Motor Sport Michael Smith said he was pleased with how the 2018 CAMS Australian Rally Championship calendar was coming together.
“The competition in the CAMS Australian Rally Championship over the last couple of years has been fantastic,” Smith said.
“Recent championships have come down to the wire and the battles we have seen between the likes of Molly Taylor, Harry Bates, Nathan Quinn, Eli Evans, just to name a few, have been enthralling.
“CAMS is working hard to put in place the very best rally events in Australia to help this close competition continue to thrive and grow.”
Smith said CAMS will announce the final 2018 CAMS ARC calendar at Kennards Hire Rally Australia, taking place on the Coffs Coast on 16-19 November 2017.
