Victorian Jesse Robison will be one of many new faces looking to take on the Trenching Systems Australia 2WD Classic Cup finale for 2024 at Buckby Motors Rally Tasmania.
Robison has entered his Datsun Sunny to roar through the forests of Burnie, which revs to an astonishing 10,000 rpm and is set to be a loud, crowd favourite.
Known in the Victorian rally circles for his quiet and humble demeanour, Robison has made a name for himself through years of dedication and remarkable performances behind the wheel of older machinery.
Robisonβs last appearance in the ARC field was in 2007, where he campaigned a Subaru WRX at his home rally at Rally of Melbourne – having upgraded from a Subaru Legacy RS that he had campaigned seasons prior.
Other career highlights include multiple Victorian Rally Championship podium finishes, victory in the BP Challenge at the 2006 Rally of Canberra, and was the top 2WD finisher in the VRC field at this yearβs The Middle of Everywhere Gippsland Rally.
The Datsun Sunny Robison is set to compete in was a gift from his wife Emily, after Jesse took a brief hiatus from the sport, and made his debut in the Sunny at the 2022 Alpine Rally.
While mechanical issues wasnβt the dream return he was hoping for, strong finishes at the Ada River Rally and Gippsland Rally VRC field this year have spurred on Robison to participate in the 2024 ARC finale in Tasmania.
Robison is one of ten 2WD Classic Cup entrants taking part in Tasmania, with Tom Clarke, Peter Dimmock, Braeden Kendrick, Mark Kyle, Jack Monkhouse, Tony Oates, Lee Peterson, Benjamin Sheldrick, and David Thompson confirmed to enter to date.
The 2024 Trenching Systems Australia 2WD Classic Cup is currently led by Peter Dimmock with 305 points. Ford Capri driver Dave Thompson trails in 2nd place with 278 points.
With 100 points up for grabs in the ARC endurance event, 27 points is all the difference in the 2WD Classic Cup title race.
Buckby Motors Rally Tasmania is set to take place in the forests of Burnie on the weekend of 22β24 November, 2024.
