Rally Queensland set for bumper 2024 edition

Spectators will be the winners at this year’s Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland with a huge range of options to experience the third round of the Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship.

The event was officially launched today with reigning ARC Champion Harry Bates and ARC regular Glenn Brinkman visiting the Mary Valley Rattler – a key partner of this year’s rally.

Bates said the event promised to deliver a spectacular weekend of rallying based out of Gympie, a proud rally town.

“The stages up here are real drivers roads, they’re very challenging, they throw a lot at you, but it’s really rewarding when you get it right,” Bates said.

“I believe they’re looking at 60 entrants this year, so a big field. It’ll be very competitive and obviously tough to win stages and win the event. But that’s certainly what we’re here to do is to try and win.

“And we’re just going to have to go out there and put our best foot forward against what I think will be pretty tough competition.”

A range of spectator opportunities will be available throughout the event, including at the Kick Ass Products Rally Village inside Pedders Rally Central at the Gympie Showgrounds.

This year, event organisers will debut a new and exciting fan experience, with a private charter on board the iconic Mary Valley Rattler tourist train.

For just $75, rally fans can enjoy the “Rally Queensland Silver Bullet” from Gympie to Amamoor where they’ll be met by a private bus charter and taken to the stages to enjoy the cars in action.

Friday night’s Wheels on Mary will again return on 28 June, with the free street party set to take over the main street in Gympie.

Motorsport Australia General Manager of Motorsport and Events Adrian Coppin said this year’s event promised to be one of the biggest editions of the Queensland event yet.

“Rally Queensland has been an integral part of the ARC for many years,” Coppin said.

“And the return in 2021 was a fantastic addition. It’s got fantastic roads around it, the community really gets behind it and it’s definitely a stop that we love.

We certainly work closely with the Brisbane Sporting Car Club, who run the event. They’ve been a fantastic partner of the ARC for a number of years now and they’re the real driving force behind Rally Queensland. So we certainly plan on coming back for many years to come.”

Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland takes place on 28-30 June in Gympie.
