Scott Pedder is the latest EROAD Australian Rally Championship name to make a guest appearance on the award winning Rusty’s Garage podcast.
It follows an episode with ARC CEO Adrian Coppin recently on the eve of Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland and fellow ARC host Dean Herridge earlier this year.
As part of the entertaining two-part podcast, Pedder delves into the decision sit out of his home event in Victoria next month and the penultimate round in South Australia.
“The break’s really (also) for me to go ‘stop being an idiot Scott’,” Pedder said.
“Just stop and smell the roses you know. And unfortunately I’ve got a similarly competitive co-driver (Glenn MacNeal) with me. But we’ve had a discussion and you know we’re going to go to
Tassie with the intent of having the best time that we can possibly have and just see what happens from there.”
“I probably need to be competitive. Be perfectionistic but also swallow my ego a little bit and recognize that I’m 49 and maybe Hayden Paddon and maybe Harry Bates are better than me. And that’s hard to say. I don’t think that’s the case.
“But maybe that is. And perhaps I’ve got to recognise that I could only have five years or two years or ten years whatever it is. I don’t want to get to the end of that and regret the experiences I’ve had.”
The wide ranging conversation covers his early career, the 2014 title win and the sentimental attachment he has to that car as well as his time in Europe and wowing fans in Finland. They also talk about the history of the Pedders company and its long running association with Motorsport.
There are multiple ways to listen to the podcast, which include via Listnr, Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Radio Australia.
