EROAD Australian Rally Championship star Alex Rullo has had a change of pace this weekend, taking out a podium finish in the highly prestigious Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge.
Switching his Hyundai i20 N Rally 2 for the IntelliSpatial Fleetcare Racing backed Lamborghini Gallardo, Rullo ended up finishing second overall in the EMTRON Pro Class behind reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Todd Hazelwood.
In what was a thrilling battle at Sydney Motorsport Park, Rullo showcased his remarkable versatility as a driver by battling it out with top-level drivers, with the competition being decided by the fastest lap at Sydney Motorsport Park.
While he did fall short against Hazelwood in the final stages of the event – it was still a mighty effort from the West Australian, who continues to impress in the variety of disciplines he competes in.
Holding the record as the youngest ever driver to debut in the nationally-renowned Supercars championship, Rullo made the full-time switch to the ARC in 2023 and has rapidly improved in that period, having secured multiple podiums.
Before his remarkable performance at Sydney Motorsport Park, Rullo’s latest podium came at Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland where he finished behind current ARC leader and fellow Hyundai pilot, Hayden Paddon.
Rullo will be back behind the Hyundai for next month’s Copyworld Adelaide Hills Rally, which takes place in the Adelaide Hills on 3-5 October.
