Peter Schey and Kate Catford have been crowned champions of the 2018 CAMS MRF Tyres South Australian Rally Championship after claiming second outright in the BOTT Adelaide Hills Rally.
The Subaru Impreza WRX pilots secured the championship at the end of the rally’s first heat, when their outright second place gave them an unassailable points lead over eventual round winners Zayne Admiraal and Matthew Heywood.
Schey and Catford had a consistent debut season, claiming an opening round runner-up to Admiraal and Heywood, before taking out a second round victory in the Rally of the Ranges as their title rivals crashed to 11th place.
A fourth outright in the third and penultimate round saw them move to top spot ahead of the final round, with the pair able to claim the championship at Adelaide Hills.
