A pair of West Australian crews are making the long trek across the Nullabor to join the chase for the CAMS Australian Rally Championship in the Eureka Rally at Ballarat this weekend.
The crews Brad Markovic and John O’Dowd are both looking forward to the first round of the championship.
Markovic was a title aspirant in 2016 in the Auto One sponsored Subaru but a fire in the car at the opening round in Western Australia left Markovic working hard to regain his confidence. To his credit, Markovic finished 5th outright in the title chase.
Ahead of the Eureka Rally, Markovic said “We know we’ve got the package and the pace to mix it with Australia’s best drivers”. The results on Sunday night will tell the story.
The Eureka Rally will see Markovic joined by fellow West Australian, John O’Dowd. O’Dowd a multiple West Australian Group N champion, is looking forward to his east coast debut and to comparing his pace against the best drivers in the country.
“It’s going to be a great experience to be part of such a talented field of competitors.” O’Dowd said.
The Eureka Rally starts with a ceremonial start at 5:30 on Friday evening in the Bridge Street Mall before the competition starts on Saturday morning just west of Ballan.
