Midday Update: Quinn one stage from ARC title

Coffs Harbour local Nathan Quinn is just one stage away from claiming his first CAMS Australian Rally Championship.

With the cancellation of special stage 20 due to heavy rain this morning, Quinn only needs to negotiate the 6.44 kilometre ‘Wedding Bells’ stage to finish Kennards Hire Rally Australia and claim enough ARC points to pass reigning champion and points-leader Molly Taylor.

Taylor led the title fight heading into the fifth and final ARC round however engine dramas yesterday derailed her title defence. Despite the Subaru do crew working into the night to repair the WRX Impreza, she was unable to continue today.

Quinn holds the Rally Australia ARC outright lead from Tom Clarke and John O’Dowd. O’Dowd also leads the ARC2 4WD final.

Michael O’Hagan is in the box seat to take out the ARC Classic Challenge.
