After a tough battle with Eli Evans for much of Saturday, Neal Bates took out Heat One in the final stage, with Michael Guest following and Eli Evans eventually settling for third. Two-time defending Champions Simon and Sue Evans were forced to withdraw after a crash on SS7.

THE longest-running round of the Australian Rally championship, coates Rally Queensland, has been congratulated on its 40th anniversary next week by its most famous winner, world rally star Chris Atkinson. As well as Chris Atkinson, Rally Queensland winners have included many other famous names, such as Possum Bourne, Neal Bates, Simon Evans, Greg Carr, Colin Bond, Harry Firth, George Fury, Murray Coote and Ross Dunkerton.

12 June 2008 - Rally Community Mourns Loss Of Ove Andersson

The world motor sport community is today mourning the loss of Ove Andersson, the former rally driver and Toyota Formula One team principal who helped pioneer Toyota’s presence in the Australian Rally Championship. Andersson was participating in the Milligan Vintage Trial rally in South Africa and was killed when his car crashed head-on with another car as he rounded a corner.

6 June 2008 - Teams Head North For coates Rally Queensland

TRD team mates Simon Evans and Neal Bates are leading the charge to the third round of the 2008 Australian Rally Championship, coates Rally Queensland, to be held on the Sunshine Coast, June 20 – 22. Over 70 crews will contest the rally which is based at the SurfAir on Marcoola resort with the forest stages in the Imbil State Forest.

2 June 2008 - Atkinson still third in series with high hopes for season

Subaru Rally driver Chris Atkinson’s final day at the Acropolis Rally ended early after a small spin resulted in suspension damage, but the Australian remains in third place in the World Rally Championship as the half-way mark of the series nears. Sebastien Loeb won the rally to moved into the lead of the championship with 50 points after seven of the 15 rounds.
