Entries open for National Capital Rally

Entries are now open for drivers wanting to take on the Netier National Capital Rally, the third round of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship (ARC) on 1 – 3 June.

Last year saw a high-quality field of 49 entries compete in the National Capital Rally, as hometown heroes Harry Bates and John McCarthy secured the ARC round victory in style – leading from the start and only relinquishing top spot just once.

The competition has been fierce to date, with a host of drivers in championship contention after two rounds – with Harry Bates and Eli Evans recently victorious.

Bates and McCarthy started their 2018 campaign by defending their 2017 victory in March’s The Courier Eureka Rally. The rally gave the Toyota Yaris AP4 its maiden CAMS Australian Rally Championship round victory, with 11 out of 15 stage victories.

Round two at the Make Smoking History Forest Rally saw Tankformers’ Eli Evans and Ben Searcy equally dominate the event, winning a total 15 of 19 stages.

Evans’ victory behind the wheel of the slick Skoda Fabia R5, handed the former Australian Rally Champion a slim five-point lead in the championship, ahead of Steve Glenney in second and Harry Bates in third.

The National Capital Rally also acts as the second round for both the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and the Techworkz Automotive ACT Regional Rally Series.

The Netier National Capital Rally will take place on 1 – 3 June with bigger and better improved spectator facilities, along with the return of some classic rally stages that haven’t been used in many years.
